INVITATION
Inspired by the slogan of the 2015 European Maritime Day: “Ports and Coasts, gateways to maritime growth”, under the aegis of the European Commission – DG MARE, we organise the fifth edition of the “Black Sea – Danube Social & Economic Innovation Forum”, at the Palace of the Parliament (Senate of Romania – “Avram Iancu” Hall) and at the head-quarters of the Romanian Academy (Center for Biodiversity), on 28-29 May 2015.
The event is deployed thanks to the partnership agreement between the National Association “Local Communities along the Danube River” (CLDR Romania), the EUSDR Honorary Chair ‘Jean Bart”, coordinated by EUROLINK-House of Europe Foundation, and the Romanian Academy through its Center for Biodiversity, and with the kind support of the Senate of Romania.
Thanks to its geo-economic position, in the new framework of the relation between Regional Smart Specialisations, Blue Economy business concept and the currently “Industrial Renaissance” process, Romania is to play a crucial role for harmonising the needs and plans of the other Danubian partners, also taking into account the development prospects of the Danube Delta and the Black Sea coast.
During the first day, we will organise a Business Market Place and a Public Consultation and Debate Meeting under the title: “Promoting a Coherent and Strong Danubian Cities & Towns common brand in the context of the Sustainable Development and Innovation of the EU Danube Macro-Region and its Black Sea related area”.

- Other representatives of the Institutional Partners and Sponsors
As we started the implementation of a new EU financing framework (2014-2020), and we have to face new global and geo-economic challenges, in order to deeper implement the EU 2020 Strategy, we aim to enforce a new approach regarding the urban Danubian agenda in the same time with a common and practical promotion of Danubian cities, towns and other local communities and their related partners.
In this respect, Romania through CLDR Association benefits of a clear and wise guidance from both the Municipality of Vienna and of the Baden Wurttemberg Land, as main discriminators of political willingness and best practices in our entire region. Within this new organisational framework, CLDR assumed and was designated to coordinate and animate the thematic priority “Promoting Danubian Cities” within the Urban Platform Consultative Committee. This new role for Romania generates new involvement opportunities and offers not only the possibility to create an unique urban labeling, but, in favor of a more sustainable and smart urban development, also to rethink and put into practice the inter-connection between communities, institutions, universities, professional and business stakeholders, as well as civil associations in the macro-region.
In order to fulfill such high level expectations, we decide to invite to Bucharest all significant representatives of regions, city-halls, academic environment, chambers of commerce and NGOs for obtaining the path of our future branding strategy and of its related financing menu.
Also, we plan to organise the already traditional awarding ceremony of the Trophies “Black Sea – Danubian Social & Economic Innovator” – 2015. The proposals could come from all interested communities, universities and other Danubian organisations and, in this respect, a consultative academic selection committee is to be established. A Networking Cocktail and a Wine Tasting session are included during the first day.
In the second day, the Danubian special guests and participants will have the opportunity to pay an exploratory visit to the head-quarters of the Romanian Academy, which hosts the main scientific research and innovation institutes, and, on this occasion, to have bilateral or multilateral negotiations concerning the creation of consortia and of submitting common projects under the various EU and international financing programs, such as: European Maritime and Fisheries Fund, European Structural and Investment Funds, Horizon 2020, Danube Programme, COSME, Creative Europe, etc.
